Coaching
Sam Minster is an experienced and highly qualified Head Coach, bringing a deep passion for swimming and youth development to London Phoenix Performance. With a Level 3 coaching certification and a track record of working with young swimmers aged 11 to 17, Sam is committed to helping each athlete reach their full potential. His warm, friendly nature and athlete-centred approach allow him to build strong, trusting relationships with swimmers and their families, creating a positive environment where confidence, skill, and enjoyment thrive both in and out of the pool.
Sam takes a holistic approach to coaching, drawing on his additional qualifications as a gym instructor, certified Strength and Conditioning coach, nutritionist, and gym coach. This breadth of expertise enables him to design training programmes that go beyond technique — focusing on physical fitness, mental well-being, and long-term development. He firmly believes that swimming should be accessible to all, regardless of background or ability, and is proud to lead a programme that champions inclusion, excellence, and the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to rise and succeed in the sport.
Coach Sam has helped me so much with my swimming over the past few years. Thanks to his training and support, I’ve made it to county and regional level, which I never thought I could do. He always pushes me to do my best but is really encouraging and easy to talk to. I’ve learned loads from him, both in the pool and with my fitness and confidence.
